How It Works

Hardships happen. Sometimes, dog and cat owners need a little extra help meeting their pet’s needs. Economic and health related hardships can cause pet owners to have to make a grueling decision. 

For older adults, pets can provide on-going comfort and companionship.  Pets can reduce stress and increase feelings of well-being.  But pet care can be challenging since dogs and cats require regular exercise, food, and medical care – all costly and time-intensive commitments for adults on limited income or facing health concerns.  

Example: Barkley’s family loves him more than most people, yet economic issues forced them to consider rehousing because affording dog food and other necessities is no longer possible. 

Example: An unexpected surgery causes Glendo to wag impatiently for his daily walks, yet his owner is currently hospitalized and needs help caring for their companion.

Example: A family’s pet is not well trained and has “bad manners” causing the family to consider surrendering their furry friend. Connecting pet trainers with challenging dogs and cats has the potential of saving hundreds of pets from being prematurely surrendered or possibly euthanized.

• Our pack raises funds and connects pet support experts and volunteers to each unique request.
• Donors receive confirmation of how their dollars helped place volunteers and professionals with the pet-loving family they selected to assist.
• You are paw-some! You helped a cat or doggo receive help, and allowed them to stay right where they’re happiest— in their favorite sunny spot at home. Most likely on the couch when their people weren’t looking.
